It is so clear that we think outside the parameters of polarized political perspectives (4-Ps!) and even beyond the scope of science, into the aspects of life that make the human experience special.

It is also very difficult to achieve, as polarized positions are not often happy to explore the depths of their thinking with one another. We can learn a lot from one another, and understand what motivates the thinking of those who see the world in very different ways.

And perhaps it will be more a form of macabre entertainment than impactful deviations from improvements in the American people’s future.

To this point, the only Republicans willing to speak up, are those who can do so at no political cost to themselves. Which tells you all you need to know about why the rest of them are staying so quiet. They know they need Trump’s voters to keep their jobs and for their party to stay in power. And that dynamic is not likely to change any time soon. Because if you’re waiting for the end of Georgia runoffs or for Trump to leave office in hopes that that will change things, think again, as I explain in an earlier blog The Trump fever-dream continues. I am curious whether any realistic health stats can be drawn between Trump supporters suffering more than Biden supporters. If so, it is a sad indication that their flouting basic advice will increase the spread of disease largely due to the actions of ‘the other’ half of America.

While it is tempting to think that those who fail to follow public health orders will simply cause themselves damage, it will in fact threaten everyone. It may be even more vital to convince these anti-vaccine believers to follow public health orders, for all our sake. I heard a commentator say that these may be the first people to try to vaccinate. The people dutifully following the rules are not the super-spreaders.
