How true, that creating non-judgemental dialog with those with very different political positions can be constructive. It is also very difficult to achieve, as polarized positions are not often happy to explore the depths of their thinking with one another. We can learn a lot from one another, and understand what motivates the thinking of those who see the world in very different ways.

Perhaps Trump will take on the spectre of sideshow to an increasing number of the world, including many of his previous supporters. And perhaps it will be more a form of macabre entertainment than impactful deviations from improvements in the American people’s future.

A bifurcated nation may start showing up in unforeseen way: health stats. I am curious whether any realistic health stats can be drawn between Trump supporters suffering more than Biden supporters. If so, it is a sad indication that their flouting basic advice will increase the spread of disease largely due to the actions of ‘the other’ half of America.

While it is tempting to think that those who fail to follow public health orders will simply cause themselves damage, it will in fact threaten everyone. It may be even more vital to convince these anti-vaccine believers to follow public health orders, for all our sake. I heard a commentator say that these may be the first people to try to vaccinate. The people dutifully following the rules are not the super-spreaders.
